NIMCET 2021: Great aspirants get more time to prepare
NIMCET 2021 aspirants have more time to prepared for the test as it is postponed for now.
Sources say the exam was actually scheduled to be held on May 23.
Keeping in view the present COVID-19 situation, decision was made to conduct NIMCET 2021 on some other day.
NIT Raipur has taken up the task of conducting NIMCET 2021 and posted a notice on its website regarding the change in the exam date.
Notification said ‘taking into consideration the safety of students and examination staff, conducting of NIMCET 2021 exam and other procedures after that have been postponed.’
The notice further said the revised dates for the NIMCET 2021 examination and its related activities will be announced later on and at least 15 days before the examination.

In the meantime, candidates are advised to use this time to prepare themselves better for the examination.
They are also advised to keep visiting the official websites of NIMCET 2021 (https://www.nimcet.in/) for the latest updates.
NIMCET 2021 which is also known as NIT MCA Common Entrance Test 2021 allows candidates who pass the exam to study MCA course in prestigious National Institutes of Technology (NIT) located across the country.
Participating institutions
NIT Agartala, NIT Raipur, NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Tiruchchirappalli, NIT Warangal, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Calicut, MANIT Bhopal and MNNIT Allahabad and NIT Surathkal are the participating institutions in NIMCET 2021.
NIMCET 2021 registration went on between 11 March and 7 April.
The admit card for the exam will be made available for download 15 to 22 May.
However now this date is likely to be changed as the NIMCET 2021 will be conducted on some other date.
Also as per earlier schedule, choice filling was to take place from 9 to 14 June. Now this procedure too will take place on another date which is to be announced later.
NIMCET 2021 exam will have 120 multiple choice questions from maths, analytical ability and logical reasoning, computer awareness and general english.
Maths will have 50 questions, Analytical ability and Logical Reasoning will have 40 questions, Computer awareness will have 10 questions and General English will have 20 questions.
Every correct answer fetches the candidate four marks and every wrong answer would lose one mark.
Candidates have to mark the responses as per the instructions appearing in the screen of NIMCET 2021 online examination.
Syllabus
Mathematics
$ Set Theory: Concept of sets – Union, Intersection, Cardinality, Elementary counting; permutations and combinations.
$ Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions.
$ Algebra: Fundamental operations in algebra, expansions, factorization, simultaneous linear /quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices.
$ Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, and intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola.
$ Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of functions by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, applications of definite integrals to areas.
$ Vectors: Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.
$ Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, general solutions of trigonometric equations.
Analytical ability and Logical reasoning
The questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.
Computer Awareness
$ Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and back-up devices.
$ Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.
General English
Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding of the English language.
There will be questions related to Comprehension, vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, meaning of words and phrases, technical writing.
The marks obtained in Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, English will be multiplied by a factor of 3, 1.5, 2 and 1 respectively.
Thus, maximum weighted marks will be 1000.
Ranking will be based on total weighted marks obtained by a candidate.
In case of a tie, it will be resolved based on weighted marks in Mathematics, then on weighted marks in Analytical Ability & Logical reasoning and then on weighted marks in Computer Awareness.
In case the tie is not resolved by the criteria stated in the above paragraph, then it will be resolved by age i.e., in favour of older candidate.
