Eligibility for National Dairy Research Institute
The eligibility for applying to undergraduate programmes in NDRI is a pass in plus-two with subjects as maths, physics and chemistry and the pass marks in the qualifying exam must be 50 percent.
Candidates applying for postgraduate courses at NDRI must pass bachelor’s degree in the discipline they wish to study master’s degree with at least 60 percent pass marks.
Applicants for PhD or doctorate programmes in NDRI must have passed postgraduate course in the discipline in which they desire to undertake research with at least 60 percent pass marks.
They have to submit their applications through their respective Embassies at New Delhi or the respective Indian Missions in their countries to the Government of India, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi.
The candidature of foreign students shall be considered only if they are sponsored with financial support by their respective Governments or Governments of India.
Facilities in National Dairy Research Institute
NDRI is a host to various facilities and one of them is Experimental Dairy which was established in the institute in 1961.
Experimental Dairy provides practical teaching and training facility to students and scientists of the NDRI Deemed University.
Another worth mentioning facility on the NDRI campus is Human Health Complex.
This has been catering to the health needs of the employees and students of NDRI as well as to the other sister ICAR Institutes situated at Karnal since its establishment in 1991.
The students of NDRI Deemed University are always encouraged to participate in activities outside the classroom that enrich the cultural, physical and social life of the students.
Spacious playgrounds along with a newly built stadium are provided near the student’s hostels and necessary facilities exist for various outdoor games and athletic events.
There are facilities also for indoor games in each hostel at NDRI.
There is a student’s sports fund to which every student subscribes at the beginning of each year a sum of Rs. 100/- as sports fee at the time of registration.
The amount so collected are used for improving sports facilities and promoting literary activities amongst the students including the publication of the students magazines namely ‘MILK TRACK.’
Student’s Welfare Fund has also been instituted at NDRI with a motive to provide financial aid to students in need.
It has a very good collection of literature on dairying and related subjects.
Indian and foreign print periodicals are regularly subscribed to keep track of the current scientific/ technical developments.
Besides, there are books and volumes of bound journals, bulletins, theses, CD-ROMs and reprints.
The Library also provides Internet browsing, reference literature, photocopying, printing and scanning facility to the students, scientists and research workers of NDRI and other sister institutes, SAUs and research organizations.
