NATA 2022: Great exam registration is on now
NATA 2022 is for those who are enthusiastic about studying architecture at the graduation level. The application submission process has commenced and candidates who are passionate about studying BArch can visit the official website of CoA (Council of Architecture) to submit applications.
There are lot of fine points with regards to the exam. CoA which conducts the exam has mentioned in the notification that NATA 2022 will be conducted for three times.
If, they miss NATA 2022 on one particular date due to some reason, they need not worry, there are two other dates on which architecture study aspirants can appear for NATA test. When will the test be conducted this year?
NATA 2022 will be held three times – first phase, second phase and third phase. The first phase of NATA 2022 is on 12 June. The second and third phase is on 3 July and 24 July respectively.

The last date to submit application for the first phase of NATA 2022 is 23 May. The last dates to apply for second phase is 20 June and third phase is 11 June. The test would be an online one and will be conducted in two sessions on each of the above mentioned dates.
What is NATA
NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) is being conducted by CoA since 2006, in terms of the provisions of CoA (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 1983, published in the Gazette of India.
It is an aptitude test that assesses a candidate’s innate ability through a variety of testing formats and cannot be taught, learnt or induced. NATA measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture, through assessment of cognitive skills, visual perception and aesthetic sensitivity tests, logical reasoning and critical thinking ability, etc., besides the learning that the candidate has acquired over the past few years and is related to the specific field of study.
In case a candidate appears for two tests, best of the two scores shall be the valid score and in the case of three attempts, valid score shall be average of the two best scores.

Candidates who have passed 10+3 diploma with Mathematics as subject of study can also appear for NATA 2022.

Candidates appearing for 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics may also provisionally appear for NATA-2022.
These candidates have to however pass for the exam and then provide a proof for that by the time of admission.
How to apply
Post ensuring the fulfillment of eligibility conditions, candidates can take the process of submitting the applications. The procedure to submit applications is online and candidates have to visit the official website of NATA 2022 exam to submit applications.
The official website to visit for applying is ‘https://www.nata.in/’ The procedure to apply is mentioned below for the sake of the students.
1. Candidates have to visit the official website using the respective url (mentioned above). Once the webpage downloads, the link for registration has to be clicked.
2. Post clicking the link, candidates will see a form where they can fill details like their name, gender, email id, mobile number, date of birth, unique password, security question and submit them to create a user account comprising username and password.
3A. Post submission, candidates may receive a confirmation message on the computer screen about successful submission of the registration form and the acceptance of username and password created during the registration process.
Post obtaining the confirmation message, candidates can go back to the url where they visited for registration and click the login link and enter the username and password and when the application form appears they can start filling the form.
3B. In certain other cases after the registration form is submitted, candidates may receive an OTP (One Time Password) either on their mobile phone or email id. Candidates have to enter the OTP and then finally submit the form and wait for successful submission confirmation.
Post confirmation, candidates can go back to the url where they visited for registration and click the login link and enter the username and password and when the application form appears they can start filling the form.
4. The form filling can be taken up by providing details like candidate’s name, email id, mobile number, date of birth, qualification details, exam center.
5A. They have to upload required documents like recent passport size photograph of the candidate, image of candidate’s signature in the required specification.
5B. If required other documents mentioned below that are as per the required specifications have also to be uploaded:
$ Category certificate (if applicable)
$ 10th class marksheet
$ 12th class marksheet (suggested alternatives if marksheet not available)
$ UG or PG marksheets (suggested alternatives if marksheets not available)
6. Post document upload, exam fees or registration fee has to be paid either through online or offline mode. Candidate has to opt for the mode of payment that is made available the institution.
6B. Post payment of exam fees, candidates can check the application form once again and check for errors with regards to details provided in the application form and correct the mistakes if any and submit the application form. In case there are no mistakes, candidates can directly submit the application form.
7. Post submission, candidates will receive the confirmation message indicating successful submission. Candidates can download the confirmation message and preserve it for future purposes.
The questions will carry 1 mark, 2 marks or 3 marks and 125 questions have to be answered in 180 minutes. The medium of Aptitude test will be essentially English language. Some questions may be in regional languages also.
The aptitude of the candidate will be assessed using some or all of the following techniques:
• Diagrammatic Reasoning – Tests the ability of logical reasoning, using diagrams and scenarios
• Numerical Reasoning – Tests mathematical ability through simple problems
• Verbal Reasoning – Assesses the ability to assess verbal logic.
• Inductive Reasoning – Tests the ability to see patterns and analyze given data
• Situational Judgment – Tests problem-solving ability.
• Logical Reasoning – Tests ability to recognize patterns, sequences or relationships between shapes and imagery.
• Abstract Reasoning – Will assess general knowledge, and ability to utilize knowledge in new situations. Questions could be asked in various topics that assess candidates on basic concepts in mathematics, physics and geometry, language and interpretation, elements and principles of design, aesthetic sensitivity, color theory, lateral thinking and logical reasoning, visual perception and cognition, graphics and imagery, building anatomy and architectural vocabulary, basic techniques of building construction and knowledge of material, general knowledge and current affairs, etc. and are may not be limited to those outlined.
The cutoff marks are the minimum qualifying marks that candidates have to score in the exam to be eligible for taking part in the admission process or to get selected for a seat in the educational institution.
The cutoff scores are usually announced along with the results of NATA exam. Sometimes they are declared either shortly before result release or after the result release depending on the circumstances.
The cutoff scores are announced on the official website of the exam and candidates can compare their score in the exam with the cutoff marks. If their score is greater or equal to the cutoff score, they can move to the next stage of admission process.
