JIPMER MBBS admission: To be done based on great NEET from 2020
JIPMER MBBS admission has now become a talk of the town with various sources pointing that admission into undergraduate medical courses in JIPMER will be based on NEET from 2020 academic session.
JIPMER is expanded into Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research.
Out of these, about 150 seats are present at Puducherry campus of the institute and 50 seats are present in the Karaikal campus of the institute.
Sources say, till now, JIPMER MBBS admission used to be done based on a written test that used to be conducted across the nation.
Applicants had to write the exam before they move to the next stage of JIPMER MBBS admission. However this will not be the case from academic year 2020.

The sources say the JIPMER MBBS admission for academic year 2020 will be done based on NEET score. National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
This only means that from now on, candidates willing to gain seat in JIPMER through JIPMER MBBS admission have to get a good score in NEET exam.
JIPMER MBBS admission for medical seats in Puducherry and Karaikal campus will be done based on NEET score, said sources.
According to a notification from JIPMER, Dr. Pankaj Kundra, the dean (academic) at JIPMER said counselling process which is a part of JIPMER MBBS admission will be undertaken through Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) which comes under Directorate General of Health Services of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Till recently, the counselling in connection with JIPMER MBBS admission was done by JIPMER itself. About 50 seats in JIPMER MBBS admission were reserved for students from Puducherry. Out of these 37 are in Puducherry campus, while 13 are in Karaikal campus.

The number of seats may be 200, but over 2 lakh candidates appear every year in connection with JIPMER MBBS admissions every year.
This remains to be seen as to how many would appear for JIPMER MBBS admission as the admission procedure is different from the usual this year.
Applications invited for vacancies
JIPMER is inviting applications for vacancies in its Neonatology department.
These vacancies are of temporary basis and is for a duration of one year and are under the project entitled “Phase III, Multicentre, Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Study to Evaluate Efficacy of Probiotic Supplementation for Prevention of Neonatal Sepsis in 0-2 Months old Low Birth Weight Infants in India” (ProSPoNS study).
The vacancies are for Study Physician (two posts), Field Investigator (Female, 8 posts), Laboratory Technician (1 post) and Data entry operator (1 post).
The upper age limit for Study Physician is 40 years, the same for other three vacancies are 30, 28 and 28 respectively.
Stud physician should be a DCH/MD/DNB (Pediatrics) with research experience in the relevant field.
He or she should be able to communicate fluently in Tamil, take consent from parents and recruit infants
and should coordinate field visits, data entry and staff management.
Field investigator should be a BSc Nursing from a recognised university and research experience in the relevant field.
Job involves field work and extensive travel in the districts for home visits.

Residents from Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore and Puducherry districts will be preferred for field visits in respective districts.
Hence applicants from other districts will not be preferred.
Field visitor should have a two wheeler and mobile phone and should be able to communicate fluently in Tamil, administer intervention, collect data and accompany infant to hospital if required.
Laboratory technician must be a BSc MLT from a recognised university and research experience in the relevant field.
Data entry operator must be a Bachelor’s degree in computer application from a recognised university with knowledge of computer applications and experience in data entry.
The salary for Study physician is Rs 63,625 per month and for other three vacancies its Rs 18,000 per month.
Candidates who can join by 1 November must only apply.
The third notification will be titled ‘Recruitment for temporary research posts -ProSPoNS study, Neonatology’

The format for application form will be seen, candidates have to send their application for the post in that format to the email ‘neonatologyjipmer@gmail.com’ by mentioning in the subject line the post they are applying.
They must write ‘Application for the position ——-(ProSPoNS Study)’ in the subject line of their email.
The email must be sent on or before 4:30 pm of 15 October. Candidates must also attach their colour photograph, date of birth proof, residence proof (Aadhar or Driving license), qualification, experience certificates.
