JEE Main 2020: Good news, can change exam centre too
JEE Main 2020, there is a happy news with regards to this popular exam. Candidates can now change exam centre owing to the COVID-19 situation.
National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the well-know exam is said to try to ensure candidates get the city chosen by them as exam centres now. However, this will be done keeping in view availability of capacity in the chosen city.
Host of popular exams were postponed and JEE Main 2020 was among them. The new dates for conducting JEE Main 2020 are likely to be announced soon after the current lock down comes to an end.
Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ is said to have announced about this recently that keeping in mind the problems faced by students who will be appearing for JEE Main 2020, they can make rectifications in the application form to include the choice of cities for centers.
NTA which conducts the exam has even released a circular in this regard. The circular says in continuation of public notice dated 1 April issued by NTA regarding the correction facility in the online application form for JEE Main 2020, it is further mentioned that it has further expanded the scope of making correction in the application form for JEE Main 2020.
The circular further says while NTA will make efforts to allot cities as per the choice of the candidate for JEE Main 2020, applicants may get another city owing to administrative reasons.
However, the decision with regards to allotment of cities for JEE Main 2020 by NTA shall be final, the circular says.
Candidates who have applied to JEE Main 2020 and wish to make corrections with regards to even choice of cities (exam centres where they are going to write the exam) can do it now by going into the website https://jeemain.nta.nic and can make corrections.

The facility to undertake correction will be available upto 14 April, corrections in the particulars in the online application forms shall be accepted upto 5.00 PM of 14 April and submission of fee upto 11.50 PM of 14 April.
The requisite (additional) fee, if applicable, can be paid through Credit/Debit Card/ Net Banking/UPI and PAYTM. In case, additional fee payment is required depending on the changes made in the form, the final updates will be reflected after the payment.
The candidates are requested to undertake the correction very carefully as no further chance of correction will be provided.

Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE-Main), formerly All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is an examination organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India.
Introduced in the year 2002 and renamed in April 2013, this national level competitive test is for admission to various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the JEE-Main score, mainly National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
Until 2018, JEE-Main was on the first week of April by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It was held both on paper and electronically. From 2019 it is conducted by the NTA, twice a year, and online only.
The examination consists of only two papers: Paper 1 for B.E./BTech courses and Paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning courses.
A candidate can opt for any or both the papers. Paper 1 is mandatorily a computer based test (called Online mode) from 2019. Till 2018, there was an option between OMR based and computer based mode.
The examination was conducted in offline pen and paper mode till 2010. In 2011, as per the orders of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, CBSE conducted Paper 1 in Computer-Based-Test mode for the first one lakh candidates who opted for the same, while the remaining students took the examination in the conventional pen and paper mode.
