JEE Advanced 2020, alas is postponed
JEE Advanced 2020 will also now be held on some other date instead of its earlier planned 17 May. Host of popular exams have been postponed due to coronavirus outbreak and JEE Advanced 2020 is among them now.
A notification on the official website of JEE Advanced that has been posted on 1 April says JEE Main 2020 was postponed due to coronavirus outbreak, now JEE Advanced 2020 which was scheduled to be held on 17 May thus stands to be postponed.
It must also be recollected that collegechalo also spoke about the possibility of this well-known test getting postponed earlier. Lot of possibilities did exist for Advanced 2020 to be postponed.

The first possibility came in form of 10th and 12th exams. These exams had to be held first, but coronavirus outbreak led to their postponement. Same was the case for JEE Main 2020 exam. This was also postponed.
These two exams will be conducted on later dates, which means their results will also be declared quite late. Since, it would not be possible to take part in Advanced until JEE Main results are declared, and JEE Main being conducted on a later date could have led to the JEE Advanced 2020 being postponed.
As per the earlier schedule, 1 May was the date for registration of Advanced to begin, the last date for the registration was 6 May and 7 May upto 5:00 pm was the last date to pay the fee. 17 May was the date of the exam.
Now this schedule has undergone a change. So the date of downloading the hall ticket has also undergone a change. The date to download admit card for Advanced was 12 to 17 May. Now this date will also be changed.
The new dates will be announced on the official website of the exam. The right time for visiting the website would perhaps be after the results for Main are declared.

It is usual for the application for Advanced exam to get released in a short-time after Main exam results are announced. It must be remembered that through this exam, students get to study engineering, science or architecture.
Study in IITs is a gateway to high profile jobs in the country and abroad. So, a large number of students apply every year for Advanced exam. There is a certain amount of difference candidates have to make note of.
JEE Mains is an exam conducted by National Testing Agency, whereas the Advanced is conducted by cluster of IITs. The responsibility of conducting the exam this time was taken up by IIT Delhi.
A total number of 161319 candidates are said to have appeared for Advanced in 2019, about 38705 are said to have been qualified in the exam. This year too candidates are expected to take part in no less number.
JEE Advanced 2020
The talk about the exam being quite difficult is very common. The trend has never been easily predictable when it comes to this well-known test. About 3 to 4 lakh candidates are said to appear in Main and about 1.5 to 1.6 lakh students are said to appear for Advanced.
This tells about the difficulty levels in the exam. However, experts have voiced that well-planned preparation accompanied with good understanding of fundamentals of Maths, Physics, Chemistry are essential for securing a pass in the test. Experts say students desiring to crack the Advanced must study for at least six hours a day.
Some centrally funded institutes have used JEE (Advanced) ranks in the past. These are Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Rae Bareli and Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy, Visakhapatnam. Candidates should contact these institutes directly for additional information regarding admission.
