IIT Patna invites applications for PhD courses – IIT Patna (Indian Institute of Technology Patna) is inviting applications for admission into PhD courses. The classes for these admissions would begin in July 2020 (Autumn Semester, Academic Year-2020-21).
Courses
Doctorate (PhD) admissions are being offered in topics related to Chemical & Biochemical Engineering
Chemistry, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering and Physics. The admissions can broadly be categorized into three main areas, namely, engineering, sciences and humanities and social sciences.

The eligibility
Candidates willing to pursue a PhD in engineering stream related subjects must have a master’s degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum pass percentage of 60 or CPI of 6.5.
They can even have a bachelor’s degree even in engineering from any recognised educational institution other than IITs with a pass percentage of 70 or CPI of 6.5.

Sciences
The candidates who want to pursue a doctorate degree in sciences must have a post graduate or MPhil degree in science with a pass percentage of 60 of CPI of 6.5.
Candidates with a masters degree in engineering with the same pass percentage or CPI can also opt for PhD in sciences.

Candidates have to remember that they are fulfilling all the eligibility conditions before applying.
Financial support
Happy news is that candidates who are found eligible will get financial support. The support will be made available as per the norms of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Currently, emoluments stand totally at Rs 31,000 per month.

IIT Patna invites applications for PhD courses – Even support from external organisations is also available. However, this will be made available as per the terms and conditions of that respective funding organisation.

Candidates must ensure that they fulfill all the conditions before applying for the financial support.
Process for applying
Applicants must remember that the method of applying for the course is online. They can apply by clicking the offical link of IITPatna ‘http://academic.iitp.ac.in/‘
Once the website downloads after clicking the link, candidates can click ‘PhD’ option under the menu ‘Admissions’ Once PhD is clicked candidates will be getting an option asking to ‘select the department/specialization you wish to apply for’ which is a scroll down menu.
IIT Patna invites applications for PhD courses – Candidates can choose their subject they want to apply, once they make their choice, option ‘PhD’ appears below the scroll down menu, candidates must click that and they will be led to another page where they have to register their email id and password and then go ahead with applying.
Candidates who are applying for more than one course have to submit separate application for each.
Application fee
Post application, candidates have to pay the fee, this can be done through online SBI Collect. The fee is Rs 300 for General,OBC, EWS male candidates and Rs 150 for SC,ST,PWD,Female (all category) candidates.
Important dates
The application start date was 17 March, the last date to fill the application is 7 April.
