IIT Madras RBCDSAI gives great fellowships to researchers
IIT Madras RBCDSAI has awarded distinguished fellowship to three well-known researchers from international institutions.
The three researchers to receive IIT Madras RBCDSAI fellowship are Professor Srinivasan Parthasarathy, Professor Sriraam Natarajan and Professor Krithi Ramamritham.
Professor Srinivasan Parthasarathy who received IIT Madras RBCDSAI fellowship is professor from Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Department of Biomedical Informatics at Ohio State University.
The second one to receive IIT Madras RBCDSAI fellowship is Professor Sriraam Natarajan, he is the director of Centre of Machine Learning at University of Texas at Dallas.
Professor Krithi Ramamritham who also won the IIT Madras RBCDSAI fellowship is a chair professor in Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Massachusetts.
IIT Madras RBCDSAI gives great fellowships to researchers
IIT Madras RBCDSAI (Robert Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence) is holding a series of events as a part of welcoming the distinguished fellows.
Head of IIT Madras RBCDSAI Professor B. Ravindran said they are honoured that these distinguished researchers accepted their request to be associated with their centre as fellows.
‘We look forward to improving the research impact and global visibility of RBCDSAI with their advice and our continued collaboration,’ said head of IIT Madras RBCDSAI.
IIT Madras RBCDSAI was established in 2017 August with a vision to expand and further the research, education and outreach activities in the areas of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
IIT Madras RBCDSAI comprises faculty from several departments across the Institute, who carry out research in various areas of data science and artificial intelligence.
It is interesting to note that IIT Madras RBCDSAI is a unique centre playing a vital role in enhancing fundamental and applied research in data sciences.
IIT Madras RBCDSAI is the leading interdisciplinary Data Science and AI centre in India and one of the few centres in the world focussing on applications in various engineering disciplines.
It has one of the largest groups in India looking at networked data across different disciplines and the top Deep Reinforcement Learning group.
Professor Srinivasan Parthasarathy
He works in the areas of Data Mining, Database Systems and High-Performance Computing.
The work of this researcher who won IIT Madras RBCDSAI fellowship has received several best paper awards or similar honors from conferences such as VLDB, SIGKDD, ICDM(2), SIAM DM(2), and ISMB.
He leads Data Mining Research laboratory at Ohio State and co-directs (along with a colleague in Statistics) a brand-new UG program in Data Analytics at Ohio State (among the first of its kind).
Professor Sriraam Natarajan
His interest lies in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and their application to healthcare problems.
The researcher who also won the fellowship was a faculty member at Translational Science Institute of Wake Forest School of Medicine till 2013.
He was also a postdoc at the Department of Computer Science in the University of Wisconsin Madison, where he worked with Professors Jude Shavlik and David Page.
He also holds a PhD from the School of EECS, Oregon State University, where he was advised by Professor Prasad Tadepalli.
Professor Krithi Ramamritham
His current research work of Professor Ramamritham who won IIT Madras RBCDSAI fellowship involves applying computational approaches to energy management, based on the SMART principle: Sense Meaningfully, Analyze and Respond Timely.
This work exploits and extends state-of-the-art in database systems, real-time computing, sensor networks, embedded systems, mobile computing, and smart grids.
He did his B. Tech (Electrical Engineering) and M. Tech (Computer Science) degrees from IIT Madras.
During 2006-2009, he served as Dean (R&D) at IIT Bombay.
He also headed IIT Bombay’s new Center for Urban Science and Engineering (CUSE).
