IIT Guwahati to collaborate with great NESAC
IIT Guwahati is going to collaborate with NESAC to undertake several initiatives for development of north-eastern region and create a mass of skilled professionals in the field.
NESAC (North Eastern Space Application Centre) and IIT Guwahati signed an MoU to enable the collaboration between the two organisations on 28 June.

Some of the initiatives that would be taken up under this partnership include internship programs, joint degree programs, short-term training programs, student exchange programs and joint projects, among others.
A multi-disciplinary approach would be adopted to study ways to tackle disasters.
IIT Guwahati director Professor T.G. Sitharam spoke about the unique aspects about the collaboration.
This is a historic day for both IIT Guwahati and NESAC as on this day we make our long-standing intellectual relationship also in to a formal one, said IIT Guwahati director.
The opportunity is limitless for these two institutes to work together and achieving new heights in research, innovation and capacity development for northeast region, said Professor Sitharam of IIT Guwahati.
Joint Certificate programs, visiting Professorship for teaching few suitable courses along with IIT Guwahati faculty are few of the initiatives that both institutes could take forward, he said.
These disasters sometimes can become a roadblock to the growth of the region and to address these challenges in a more meaningful premier institutes of this region need to work together and collaboration is the key to success.
Dr. P.L.N Raju, director of NESAC elaborated about the partnership between IIT Guwahati and NESAC.
The signing of MoU with IIT Guwahati and specifically with CDMR (Centre for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction) at IIT Guwahati focusing on training education and research will further enhance NESAC in strengthening capacity building, training and research in this region, Dr. Raju
I am looking forward for a fruitful and highly successful MoU between IIT Guwahati and NESAC benefiting the society as a whole, he said.
Recently, COVID-19 pandemic has been a learning lesson, which showed that any form of disaster can affect a country’s growth.
However, the nation can improve and be prepared for future to such uncertainty through proper strategy and skilled manpower development.
About IIT Guwahati
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati established in 1994 has completed 25 years of glorious existence in 2019.
At present, the Institute has eleven departments, five inter-disciplinary academic centres and four schools covering all the major engineering, science and humanities disciplines, offering BTech, BDes, MA, MDes, MTech, MSc and PhD programmes.
The institute offers a residential campus to 412 faculty members and more than 6,000 students at present.
