IIM Calcutta convocation: Students get a great message
IIM Calcutta convocation function remained a grand affair as students got a highly valuable message from the chief guest.
Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian the Chief Economic Advisor to Government of India was the chief guest during IIM Calcutta convocation function.
The key to victory is bravery and patience. Impatience will give us no victory, said the chief guest during IIM Calcutta convocation.
‘Your own strength of character and intelligence will give you the will power that is needed to endure such battles,’ said Dr. Krishnamurthy.
Speaking further during IIM Calcutta convocation, Chief Economic Advisor to Government of India said there is a need to have truth on one’s side.

One should also imbibe other great qualities – humility, modesty, selflessness. Selflessness is the quality of doing good to others, said Dr. Krishnamurthy during IIM Calcutta convocation.
It was not easy to make these qualities their own.
It requires great deal of saadhana. It requires great deal of deep introspective, disciplined, relentless long duration study.
If these qualities are inculcated in one self, there is very high probability of standing as a winner in all situations, said the chief guest during IIM Calcutta convocation.
IIM Calcutta convocation witnessed 462 students of 56th batch of the 2-year flagship MBA programme receiving degrees. And, 61 students were awarded for the 1-Year MBAEx Programme.
The award of diplomas was announced for 36 students in Post Graduate Programme for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX VLM) and 57 students in Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA).
The Institute also conferred 14 students with their PhD degrees.
Commencing this year, a new doctoral student award ‘Nirmal Chandra Memorial Doctoral Student Award’ has been instituted for PhD graduating candidate obtaining the highest CGPA.
Best Publication Award by IIM Calcutta Alumni Association Mumbai Chapter was awarded to Vivek G. Nair during IIM Calcutta convocation.
The newly instituted Nirmal Chandra Memorial Doctoral Student Award was awarded to Priyanshu
Gupta for obtaining the highest CGPA during his doctoral studies at the Institute.
The moments turned even more special during IIM Calcutta Convocation when under the two-year MBA degree programme, Arpit Bajaj and Himanshu Mahalka were awarded with Dr. B C Roy Gold Medal for 1 st Rank holder, Chairman’s Prize, John Wynne Prize, Calcutta Management Association Trophy, P C Chandra Silver Medal for 1 st Rank holder and IIMC Alumni Association Calcutta Chapter prize.
Their names will be instated in the Institute’s Honour Roll.
Under PGDBA, the first rank holder, Askar Babu U received a gold memento and Rs 50,000 as cash prize and a merit certificate during IIM Calcutta convocation.
The 2nd ranker, Vanya Sinha got Rs. 40,000 as cash prize and a merit certificate. The third ranker, Vidyadhar Mudium got Rs. 30,000 as cash prize and a merit certificate.
Chairperson of IIM Calcutta Board of Governors Shrikrishna Kulkarni, IIM Calcutta director-in-charge Dr. Subir Bhattacharya were among those present.
IIM Calcutta convocation ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and singing of the national anthem.
