IES exam syllabus – A focus on Indian Engineering Services Exam is a must for an aspirant aiming to target high profile engineering jobs in government organisations. A pass in the well-known exam is the gateway for engineering employment. The exam is held in three stages namely Prelims, Mains and Personality Test.
The test is conducted to recruit Civil Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers.
The prelims exam comprises two papers with multiple choice question format for 500 marks. The main exam will have two papers related to the specific engineering discipline and time available to answer the questions is three hours. The marks for main exam is 600.
IES exam syllabus
The mains exam will have two papers related to the relevant engineering discipline and both will be for 300 marks. The topics to be studied are related to the earlier mentioned four fields of engineering. The topics to be covered are listed below for both prelims (Paper 2) and mains exam (Paper 1 and Paper 2):
