Honours for teachers and principals is all about honouring those who play a crucial role in shaping the life of students.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is inviting applications for presenting them ‘Honours of Excellence in Teaching and School Leadership’ for 2020-21.
Teachers and principals can send their application online before June 28.
About the honours
Honours for teachers and principals are presented with a motive to recognise their exemplary contribution to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
This is done to motivate the teachers and principals to continue their good work.
The honours
Each of the honours for teachers and principals comprises a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a merit certificate.
Who can apply
Teachers
All teachers presently working with the private schools affiliated to CBSE who have completed at least 10 years of regular service as a teacher in either CBSE or any other recognised board of school education affiliated schools by 31 March 2021 can apply.
Principals
All Principals of the private schools affiliated to CBSE who have completed 10 years of regular service as a teacher and 5 years as a principal in CBSE affiliated school(s) by 31 March 2021 can apply.

Also
Teachers or principals who retired on 31 March or after may also apply if they fulfill all other conditions.
Point to remember
There is an important point with regards to these honours for teachers and principals.
Principals cannot apply in the category of teachers. An applicant can apply under only one category.
Selection criteria
The applicants for honours for teachers and principals will be shortlisted based on the criteria – experience in related field, age, higher qualification and percentage in educational qualification.
The shortlisted candidates in connection with honours for teachers and principals have to upload the required documents.
National level scrutiny committee will check the documents uploaded by shortlisted candidates.

National level screening committee also will interact online with the shortlisted applicants for honours for teachers and principals.
Selection of final recipients by the Committee and announcement of honours will be made
online on the CBSE portal.
Point to remember
The names of top six scorers will be forwarded to Ministry of Education of Government of India for National Teachers Award.

Candidates can click anyone of the above url and wait for the webpage to download.
Soon after the webpage downloads, they can see a button with regards to registering for honours for teachers and principals.

Applicants have to click them and commence registration and obtain username and password.
Individuals have to login using the username and password and start submitting applications for honours for teachers and principals.
Teachers and prinicpals have to provide the required information, upload the required documents and submit the application form.
Documents to be submitted
Applicants for honours for teachers and principals have to provide the following along with the application:
@ Undertaking to the effect that all the particulars submitted are correct and copies
of documents uploaded are genuine.
If anything is found incorrect or forged at any
stage, candidature will be liable for rejection and honour may be summarily withdrawn, if conferred.
This can even lead to punishment as per the rule
@ Birth certificate
@ Vigilance Clearance Certificate furnished by the Chairman/Manager of the School
@ Certificate of Continuous and Regular Service furnished by the Chairman/Manager of school after verifying that there is no break in the service of the applicant during the last 10 years (in case of teachers) and 15 years (in case of Principals)
@ Certificates/degrees and mark statements of Class 10/11/12/Equivalent Graduation, Post Graduation and NTT/ETE/B.El.Ed./B.Ed./Others
@ Class Result in Board/School
@ Recommendation Letters

The applications for honours for teachers and principals have to be submitted online. No other mode of submission will be accepted. All applicants shall apply directly by filling the application form online on or before 28 June 2021.
