Ministry of Education has seen a massive rise in the number of mass and media students in 2020. It was more in numbers as compared to the students of the other subjects and disciplines. As per their report, the enrolment at the undergraduate level in journalism and mass communication stood at 29,758. This was way more than admissions in the subjects like design, fashion technology and linguistics.

The 2019-2020 All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) also shows that at the UG level, the highest number (32.7%) of students are enrolled in Arts/Humanities/Social Sciences courses followed by Science (16%), Commerce (14.9%) and Engineering and Technology (12.6%). This makes it evident that media is one of the most popular branches of studying in India. It might be because of the endless opportunities it gives to the students in the coming years.

However, mass media is a vast subject and is divided into different branches. Of course, all of them are great and have wonderful opportunities, but it gets very difficult for the students to choose which category they want to go ahead with. There are a lot of subdomains under mass media like advertising, PR, digital marketing, marketing, media communication, journalism, and lots more.

Hence, GMCET (Global Media Common Entrance Exam) was established to help the students and make their subject selection process easy after the 12th standard. Through this exam, the students are given priority through their scores and many universities in India will accept them. Structure-wise, the GMCET assesses the students on their communication skills and necessary analytics and logical reasoning.

It is an online exam and can be given from anywhere even from the home through their laptop.
