GATE 2021 sees great increase in number of applications
GATE 2021 has seen good deal of registration from non-engineers and women candidates.
It is to recollect that GATE 2021 was thrown open to non-engineers and good deal of participation from candidates of non-engineering segment is seen.
Candidates from humanities subjects have applied for GATE 2021 in considerable numbers.
The other worthnoting point is that even number of women candidates who registered for GATE 2021 also had witnessed a considerable increase.
Sources say, most of the applicants in the humanities segment are women. The humanities segment of GATE 2021 has received about 8,634.
On the other hand, the number of overall women applicants for GATE 2021 also witnessed an increase this year.
GATE 2021 has received a total of 2,88,379 applications from girls which is an increase by about 10,000 compared to what was received the previous year.
That is not all, a total of 14,196 applications were received from candidates of humanities subjects which are introduced newly.
When it comes to total number of applications, GATE 2021 received 8,82,684 applications which is little more than what was seen last year where 8.5 lakh applications were received.
There is more to than what meets the eye as far as GATE 2021 is concerned. The youngest applicant for GATE 2021 is said to be a 15 year old boy from Rajasthan.
Similarly, the oldest candidate who applied for GATE 2021 is said to be an 88 year old person, say sources.
It is worth remembering that GATE 2021 will be conducted by IIT Bombay.

Meanwhile, authorities conducting GATE 2021 have opened the window for making corrections.
Candidates who have already successfully submitted their applications for GATE 2021 can make corrections with regards to the information provided while filling the application for GATE 2021.
Window for making corrections in the application form was made open on 28 October and will be open till 13 November.
Candidates can make changes with regards to Category, exam centre and exam paper.
Changes to exam centre can be done free of cost, however for changing the paper and category applicant has to pay an additional amount of Rs 500.
GATE also known as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is held to select candidates for admission into post graduate courses.
Application submission for GATE 2021 was opened on 11 September this year and the last date for submitting the application was 7 October.
The date for submitting application for GATE 2021 was further extended till 14 October and candidates could submit applications till 14 October with a payment of additional late fee of Rs 500.
Candidates have to visit the official website of the exam to make corrections.
The official website is ‘https://gate.iitb.ac.in/index.php’ and when the website downloads, applicants have to scroll down to find the button ‘GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS)’ and click that.
The button would be in blue colour on white background.
Once the button is clicked, another webpage with url ‘https://appsgate.iitb.ac.in/’ would download where applicants have to provide their Enrollment ID number of GATE 2021 or their Email ID and then type the password and then type the answer for arithmatic expression and then press submit.
Post that, candidate will gain entry into their application form already submitted and then they can make the required corrections.
Also, candidates can type the url ‘https://appsgate.iitb.ac.in/’ directly and when the webpage opens, candidates can enter their enrollment number or email id, password and answer for arithmatic expression and press ‘submit’
Post pressing ‘submit’ button, applicants will gain access to the application submitted earlier and they can make corrections.
The last date for intimating the registered candidates of GATE 2021 post scrutiny by zonal office was 26 October.
The admit card will be available for download on the official website of GATE ‘https://gate.iitb.ac.in’ on 8 January 2021.
Candidates can visit the official website on that date and click the appropriate link which will be highlighted on the website at the appropriate time and then provide the required information and download the hallticket.
Results for GATE 2021 will be declared on 22 March on the official website.
The exam will be completely a Computer Based Test (CBT) and two new subjects have been introduced in GATE 2021 this time and with this the total number of subjects for the exam has gone up to 27.
The new subjects introduced are ES (Environment Science and Engineering) and XH (Humanities and Social Sciences) in Economics, English, Linguistics, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology.
Candidates can choose two subject papers for the exam. However, they have to ensure the subjects are available in the given list of subjects.
They must also ensure that exams for both the subjects are not conducted at the sametime. Final allotment of two papers will still be subject to availability of infrastructure and dates.
The syllabi for all the papers in connection with GATE 2021 has been revised.
GATE 2021 score card will remain valid for THREE years from the date of announcement of results.
And, applicants of the exam have to remember that exam conducting schedule may change considering the COVID-19 situation.
They can also follow their email id or mobile number which were provided while applying for the exam, as any information regarding the exam may be sent to email id or mobile number of the applicant.
