CLAT 2021: Great exam to be held on May 9
CLAT 2021 exam will be conducted offline on May 9 next year and applications for the exam will be available from 1 January 2021 onwards.
However, taking into consideration the COVID-19 situation, the mode of conducting the CLAT 2021, offline, could be changed if the situation requires it.
The law courses are offered by 22 national law universities around the country.
This national level law admission test is conducted once every year and CLAT 2021 is meant for next year (2021).
Consortium of National Law Universities will conduct CLAT 2021.
The consortium was established on 19 August 2017 with the aim of improving the standard of legal education in India and justice system through legal education.
The exam dates
Registration for CLAT 2021 will open on 1 January next year and the last date to submit application for the exam is 31 March 2021.
CLAT 2021 will be conducted on 9 May next year from 3 pm to 5 pm.
The participating universities
Among the universities participating in CLAT 2021 exam are NLSIU (Bengaluru), NALSAR (Hyderabad), NLIU (Bhopal), WBNUJS (Kolkata) and NLU (Jodhpur).
Eligibility
Undergraduate admission
# Candidates willing to apply for undergraduate programmes of law through CLAT 2021 must have passed plus-two from any stream with a minimum 45 percent pass marks.
# If applicants for CLAT 2021 are from SC/ST categories the pass percentage is 40.
# Applicants who are going to appear for their qualifying exam (plus-two) in March or April 2021 can also apply for CLAT.
However, these candidates have to produce the proof of passing plus-two exam by the time of admission.
If they dont produce the proof, the right to take part in the admission process will be cancelled.
Post graduate admission
# Applicants willing to seek admission into post graduate law courses through CLAT 2021 must be an LL.B degree holder or holder of its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50 percent pass marks.
# The pass percentage in the qualifying exam is 50 percent for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI category candidates.
# The same for SC/ST category candidates is 45 percent.
# Even candidates appearing for their qualifying examination in April or May next year also can apply.
# However they have to produce the proof of their passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission.

In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under:
i. Higher age
ii. Computerised draw of lots.

Applicants can visit the official website of CLAT 2021 at ‘consortiumofnlus.ac.in’ to apply for the exam.
Candidates can visit the website for CLAT 2021 mentioned above and register themselves using their personal mobile number and email id.
Upon registration, an OTP will be sent to the given mobile number for validation.
Once the mobile number is validated, candidates can login using their mobile number and the password they provided at the time of registration.
Post login, candidates can begin filling the form. Applicants have to upload certain documents after filling the form and then pay the registration fee.
Post registration fee payment, candidates can submit the application finally and obtain the confirmation for the same.
Candidates can take a printout of the final confirmation and preserve it for future use.

# Candidates have to upload a passport size recent photograph of themselves with a plain background along with the online application for CLAT 2021.
# Signature of the candidate
# Category certificate if you are applying under SC/ST/OBC
# Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if you are applying if candidate is P.W.D
# Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if you are coming under BPL category
Candidates must remember that all the documents to uploaded must be in PDF format only.
Application fee
The registration fee for CLAT 2021 is Rs 4000 for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI candidates.
The same for SC/ST category candidates is Rs 3,500.
The registration fee for applying for graduate and post graduate courses through CLAT 2021 is the same.
The candidates themselves will have to bear the bank transaction charges for remitting the fee online.
The actual bank transaction charges will be displayed in the payment gateway page after you choose the mode of payment.
The exam format
CLAT 2021 will be conducted offline and the questions will be in multiple choice format.
Each question will have more than one reply and candidates have to choose the right one among them in the multiple choice format.
Graduate exam
The duration of CLAT 2021 for graduate admission is of two hours duration and has 150 questions. Each question has one mark.
A wrong answer will lead to deduction of 0.25 mark.
The number of questions per subject are:
English Language – 28-32 questions
Current Affairs, including General Knowledge – 35-39 questions
Legal Reasoning – 35-39 questions
Logical Reasoning – 28-32 questions
Quantitative Techniques – 13-17 questions
Each question in CLAT 2021 exam will be of one mark. A wrong answer will lead to deduction of 0.25 mark each.
Questions will be from subjects – Constitutional law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law.
Questions will also be asked from Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour & Industrial Law.
