CLAT 2021 exam: Application date extended till great April 30
CLAT 2021 exam application submission date has been extended till 30 April this year and exam will be conducted on 13 June.
This development brings a happy news for those aspiring to study law courses at undergraduate or postgraduate levels in national law universities.
Sources say, executive committee of Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) met on 6 January to consider postponing of CLAT 2021 exam owing to clashes with CBSE board exam schedule.
The executive committee is said to have decided to conduct CLAT 2021 exam on 13 June from 2 pm to 4 pm.
CLAT 2021 exam
About the exam
CLAT 2021 exam is expanded into Common Law Admission Test 2021 exam and is conducted by CNLU to offer admission into undergraduate and post graduate law courses offered at 22 national law universities across the country.
This national level law admission test is conducted once every year and CLAT 2021 exam is meant for this year.
The exam dates
Registration for CLAT 2021 exam opened on 1 January this year and the last date to submit application for the exam is 30 April currently.
The last date to submit applications for CLAT 2021 exam as per earlier decided schedule was 31 March.
The earlier decided date of exam was 9 May and now the test will be conducted on 13 June.
Participating institutes
Among the universities participating in CLAT 2021 exam are NLSIU (Bengaluru), NALSAR (Hyderabad), NLIU (Bhopal), WBNUJS (Kolkata) and NLU (Jodhpur).
Also other institutes who will be participating in CLAT 2021 exam are MNLU of Mumbai, HPNLU of Shimla, MNLU of Nagpur, MNLU of Aurangabad.
NUSRL of Ranchi, NLUJA of Assam, DSNLU of Visakhapatnam , TNNLU of Tiruchirappalli, DNLU of Jabalpur and DBRANLU of Haryana are also participating institutions in CLAT 2021 exam.

Students who pass CLAT 2021 exam with good score will be able to seek admission into undergraduate or post graduate courses offered at the above mentioned institutions located across the country.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for applying for CLAT 2021 exam depends on the type of law course the applicant wishes to study.

For applicants who are from SC/ST categories can have a pass percent of 40 in their plus-two exams.
Applicants who are going to appear for their qualifying exam (plus-two) in March or April 2021 can also apply for CLAT.
Point to remember
However, these candidates have to produce the proof of passing plus-two exam by the time of admission.
In case they fail to produce the marksheets proving they passed the plus-two exam, their candidature for admissions is likely to be cancelled.
Post graduate admission
Applicants willing to seek admission into post graduate law courses through CLAT 2021 exam must be an LL.B degree holder or holder of its equivalent degree.
The general category applicants must have 50 percent pass marks in the qualifying exam.
The pass percentage in the qualifying exam is 50 even OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI category candidates.
The same for SC/ST category candidates is 45 percent.
Even candidates appearing for their qualifying examination in April or May next year also can apply for CLAT 2021 exam.

Graduation
In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under:
1. Higher marks in the component/section on legal aptitude in the CLAT 2021 exam

How to apply
The procedure to apply for CLAT 2021 exam is online.
Applicants can visit the official website of CLAT 2021 exam at ‘consortiumofnlus.ac.in’ to apply for the exam.
Candidates can visit the website for CLAT 2021 mentioned above and register themselves using their personal mobile number and email id.
Upon registration, an OTP will be sent to the given mobile number for validation.
Once the mobile number is validated, candidates can login using their mobile number and the password they provided at the time of registration.
Post login, candidates can begin filling the form. Applicants have to upload certain documents after filling the form and then pay the registration fee.
Post registration fee payment, candidates can submit the application finally and obtain the confirmation for the same.
Candidates can take a printout of the final confirmation and preserve it for future use.
Documents to be uploaded
Candidates have to upload a passport size recent photograph of themselves with a plain background along with the online application for CLAT 2021 exam.

Candidates must remember that all the documents to uploaded must be in PDF format only.
Registration fee
The registration fee for CLAT 2021 exam is Rs 4000 for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI candidates.
The same for SC/ST category candidates is Rs 3,500.
The registration fee for applying for graduate and post graduate courses through CLAT 2021 exam is the same.
The candidates themselves will have to bear the bank transaction charges for remitting the fee online.
The actual bank transaction charges will be displayed in the payment gateway page after they choose the mode of payment.
Each question will have more than one reply and candidates have to choose the right one among them in the multiple choice format.
CLAT 2021 exam pattern is different for undergraduate and post graduate admissions.
Undergraduate
The duration of CLAT 2021 for graduate admission is of two hours duration and has 150 questions. Each question has one mark.
A wrong answer will lead to deduction of 0.25 mark.
The number of questions per subject are:
English Language – 28-32 questions
Current Affairs, including General Knowledge – 35-39 questions
Legal Reasoning – 35-39 questions
Logical Reasoning – 28-32 questions
Quantitative Techniques – 13-17 questions
Postgraduate exam
The duration of CLAT 2021 exam for post graduate course admission is for two hours and will have 120 questions.
Each question in CLAT 2021 exam will be of one mark. A wrong answer will lead to deduction of 0.25 mark each.
Questions will be from subjects – Constitutional law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law.
Questions will also be asked from Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour & Industrial Law.
