CBSE: 10, 12 exams only in 29 subjects
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct exams for Class 10 and 12 for only 29 main subjects which are required for promotion and admission to higher educational institutions.
This was said to have been announced by Union Minister for Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank.’ A press release issued by CBSE, board will not conduct examinations for the rest of the subjects.
The 10th class subjects for which exam will be held for North East Delhi schools are Hindi Course A, Hindi Course B, English Comm, English Language & Literature, Science and Social Science.
The subjects of 12th standard for which exam will be held for entire India are Business Studies, Geography, Hindi (Elective), Hindi (Core), Home Science, Sociology, Computer Science (Old), Computer Science (New), Information Practice (Old), Information Practice (new), Information Technology, Bio-Technology.
The subjects of 12th standard for which exam will be held for North east Delhi schools are English, Elective – N, English Elective -C, English Core, Mathematics, Economics, Biology, Political Science, History, Physics, Accountancy, Chemistry.
All these subjects put together there are 29 for which CBSE will conduct exam at a convenient schedule. Mentioning about the exam schedule the press release by CBSE further says that at the current moment it is difficult to bring out a new schedule.
However, the board has assured that any decision going to be taken in this regard will be taken with due consultation with higher education authorities and taking into account other aspects like entrance exams, admission dates.
CBSE further said that it would give a notice of about 10 days to all stakeholders before starting the board examinations. Similarly, Board also said it would not hold any more exams for students of Class 10 and 12 school located outside India.
This is being done taking into account the prevailing situation. There are several CBSE schools located in 25 countries.
Each of these countries are also under lock down or have decided to close down the schools for various and differential lengths of time.
Under such circumstances, it is felt that the Board will not be in a position to hold differential
set of exams for each of these countries.
Also, in the present situation, it will be difficult to bring the answer books to India for evaluation purposes.
Therefore, the Board has decided to not hold any more exams. The system of assessment for the purpose of declaring results will be worked out by the Board shortly and informed to these schools.
With regards to evaluation work, press release says, Board has not been able to continue evaluation owing the current situation. CBSE will come out with further instructions for evaluating in the changed circumstances.
These instructions, and dates for restart of evaluation work in various evaluation centres in the country can also not be announced at this stage.
However, the Board will give 3-4 days’ notice to restart the evaluation work, which maybe noted by all the Chief Nodal Supervisors, Head Examiners, Evaluators, Coordinators of Evaluation Centers.
CBSE is also said to have issued an advisory in consultation with NCERT to promote students of class 1 to 8 to the next class.
With regards to classes 9 to 11, CBSE said schools which could not conduct exams for students of these classes due to valid reasons can promote them to next class based on school based assessments including project work, periodic tests, term exams.
For any child who is unable to clear this internal process, (in any number of subjects), the school may utilise this period for providing remedial interventions and school may give the opportunity
of appearing in school-based tests, online or offline.
The promotion of such children may be decided on the basis of such tests. The organisation also requested students and parents to be cautious and never succumb to misinformation.
CBSE says they can visit the ‘www.cbse.nic.in‘ to get the valid information. They are requested to only follow information mentioned on its official website and also its accounts on social-media platforms.
