BTech Computational Engineering: Great new course at IITH

BTech Computational Engineering is the new course introduced at IIT Hyderabad. The course aims to provide holistic approach that will integrate the principles of engineering disciplines.
The students of BTech Computational Engineering will get an interdisciplinary education where they gain expertise in state-of-the-art numerical methods and algorithms, modelling and simulations of engineering systems and processes, high-performance computing, process control, and optimization, data analytics, and machine learning.

IITH offers undergraduate programs in all the classical engineering disciplines, applied sciences, design, as well as several modern interdisciplinary areas. Students are given a flexibility to explore a broad set of areas, and potentially pursue a minor or double major in a discipline that is not their own.
More about BTech Computational Engineering
The course will be of four-year duration and will have eight semesters. In the first five semesters of BTech Computational Engineering, the student acquires in-depth knowledge in mathematical methods, state-of-the-art numerical techniques, development of mathematical models, computer simulations, optimization, high-performance computing, data analytics, and machine learning.

In the remaining three semesters, the student can choose from a large number of electives to acquire knowledge that is more specialized. Fundamentals of Scientific Computing, Computer Aided Numerical Methods, Computational Methods in Material Science are among some of the lessons that will be taught as a part of BTech Computational Engineering course.

Candidates have to first pass JEE Mains with a rank that comes under top 2.5 lakhs on a national level to be eligible for JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced exam has to be passed with required qualifying marks to be eligible to take part in the counseling process.

JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) will be conducting counselling and students seeking admission in IITs located across India can take part in it. Students can choose BTech Computational Engineering course during the counseling process.
