IIT Kanpur hosts academic orientation session for Y24 PG Students
IIT Kanpur was the center of attraction recently when academic orientation was organized for newly admitted students.
The event was organized by PG, Academic, and Career Council (AnC) of the Student’s Gymkhana at IIT Kanpur and was titled ‘Academic Orientation Session for Y24 PG Students – A Comprehensive Guide’
It also included guidance on course and supervisor selection and introduced the crucial portals and resources available to IIT Kanpur students.
Program
The Y24 orientation began with an inaugural ceremony, followed by a welcome address from the Chief Guest, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur.

Prof. Pratik Sen, Dean of Students’ Affairs, emphasized the transformative nature of postgraduate studies.

Research
Prof. Ashoke De, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at IIT Kanpur emphasized the chance for students to engage in groundbreaking research and deepen their expertise, backed by world-class teachers and advanced facilities.
Prof. Abheejeet Mohapatra encouraged students to connect with peers, teachers, and staff, highlighting the institute’s dedication to their success and satisfaction.

Introductory Session
The event also included an introductory session that briefed students on the activities of the AnC and its subsidiary wings, say sources from IIT Kanpur.
To further support the students, comprehensive booklets containing all necessary information were distributed to the Y24 PG students during the event.
Key Initiative
The Academic Orientation Session is a key initiative by AnC to ensure that newly joined students are well-prepared to navigate their academic journey at IITK.
Through this event, AnC aims to foster a supportive environment that will help students adapt seamlessly to their new academic surroundings and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
