Hindustan Group of Institutions celebrate great Christmas
Hindustan Group of Institutions celebrated Christmas with grandeur at HITS campus in Chennai.
The event radiated festive spirit through inspiring speeches, music, dance performances, and a focus on unity and community.
Ms. Michaela Kuchler, Consul General of Germany (Chennai) and Chairman of Hindustan Group of Institutions Dr Anand Jacob Verghese were also present.
Commencement
The festivities began with an opening prayer by the Student Chaplain, followed by stirring carol performances, traditional hymns, and cultural displays.
Unity
Chairman of Hindustan Group of Institutions Dr Anand Jacob Verghese said Christmas is a season of hope, love, and togetherness. Our institutions reflect these values through multicultural harmony, he said.
Special highlights
The special highlight included the release of Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI) calendar and Flywheel, a cake cutting ceremony and Santa’s visit.
Competition winners were awarded prizes from a pool of ₹1,50,000, recognizing their creativity and talent.
In their addresses, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gregorios Mar Stephanos emphasized love and hope, while Ms. Michaela Kuchler highlighted the shared humanity of the season.
Ceremony
Earlier in November, this year’s Christmas celebrations at the Hindustan Group of Institutions kicked off with a grand cake-mixing ceremony organized in collaboration with The Park Hotels.
A 350 kg cake was prepared, symbolizing the spirit of collaboration and joy. Pre-Christmas contests, including the “Mistletoe Mavericks” Christmas Tree-Making Contest, Biblia 2024 Global Bible Quiz, and Carol The King International Carol Singing Competition, showcased the talent and creativity of participants.
Quiz
The Biblia 2024 Bible Quiz saw 305 teams and 610 participants from schools, colleges, and open categories competing.
Winners included St. John’s Public School, Medavakkam (School Category), Christ University, Bangalore (College Category), and CSI St. Thomas Church, Perumalpuram (Open Category). Within Hindustan Institutions, KCG College claimed the top spot.
Carol The King
The Carol The King Competition featured 33 choirs with 705 members, celebrating musical excellence, say sources from Hindustan Group of Institutions.
Winners included Sacred Heart International School (School), Madras Christian College (College), and Bishop Heber Chapel (Open Category).
At the university level, the Advent Choral Contest saw SLiCA (School of Liberal and Creative Arts) emerge as the winner among eight department choirs.
Conclusion
The celebration concluded on a high note with performances that reflected the cultural and spiritual richness of the institution, underscoring HGI’s commitment to excellence, community, and holistic development.
