Vellore Institute of Technology VIT University, Vellore was established in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College by Dr G. Viswanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. VIT got the University status in 2001 by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development. The university is approved by AICTE and recognized by UGC.
The global standards set at VIT in the field of teaching and research have led it to excellence. Many students, who pursue their research projects in foreign universities, bring high quality to their work and esteem to India. It offers 52 Undergraduate, 32 Postgraduate, 11 Integrated Programs, 2 Research programs, and 2 M.Tech Industrial Programs.
In addition to full-time Ph.D. Degrees in Engineering and Management Disciplines, Ph.D. in Science and Languages and Integrated Ph.D. programs in engineering disciplines are also offered. Research Centers encourage inter-departmental collaborative participation of students in exciting research projects.

The university offers several scholarships to financially challenged students, so that money does not impede brilliance. The candidates can check below the various eligibility criteria that they must check before starting with the application process:
Nationality: The applicant for admission should be a Resident / Non Resident Indian National / PIO Holder.
Age Limit: Candidates whose date of birth fall on or after 1st July 1998 are eligible.
Academic Qualification: Students who have passed or appearing in 12th or equivalent are eligible for VITEEE 2025.
Subjects: Students need to have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English (PCME) for being eligible for all B.Tech degree programs.
Percentage: Students are required at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology (PCM/B) in intermediate. However, Students belonging to SC/ST or hailing from Jammu & Kashmir and North eastern states must have a minimum of 50% score in PCM/B.
The cutoff rank in VITEEE 2025 is formalized for admission-selecting the most qualified individuals during online counseling. Online counseling will be held in mid-June for registering through various counseling levels. Graduate programs will be separated into B.Tech Programs or M.Tech/BUS Programs or Dual Programs. Allotment would be based on the rank received and options available.
1 lakh rank-holders are called for the counseling process at all the four campuses, VIT-Vellore, VIT-Chennai, VIT-AP and VIT-Bhopal. Rank-holders above 1 lakh are eligible to appear in counseling for VIT-AP and VIT-Bhopal campuses.
VIT will verify the eligibility of candidates after paying the fees in the stipulated time or before that. Candidates have to produce related documents in reporting to the campus or needed by the office of admissions. If the requirements are satisfied, then the office will give them a provisional admission offer during the counseling.
VITEEE 2025 - VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) 2025 is the only way to get admission in the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) campuses.
VIT Engineering Entrance Examination will be conducted between 2nd and 3rd week of April 2025 and the test will be administered online at indicated centers at timings. Candidates need to go through the eligibility criteria for the exam. However, Candidates can apply for Direct Admission for the rest of the courses.
The VIT campus is spread over an extensive 372 acre area. The excellent feature of VIT is the state-of-the-art facilities offered to students and faculty too. Completely furnished and well-equipped laboratories adorn every University building.
In addition, the campus has ample facilities to facilitate diverse activities-auditoriums, spacious open spaces, outdoor stages and more.With three fully fitted multi cuisine canteens present at three strategic college locations, VIT has been amply blessed. One at the college's far ends, one at G D Naidu Block and the Silver Jubilee Tower and one at the college's middle near the Technology Tower
