Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences(SVIMS) was established in the year 1993 under the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. It was established with an objective of providing service, training, and education in advanced medical sciences and technology, growing as a leading institute in academic, research and health care services. SVIMS has been recognized by the Medical Council of India since 2003 for conducting various graduate and post graduate degree level courses. In 2006, the Government of India included SVIMS for renovation to be at par with AIIMS, New Delhi under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) scheme.
