Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi was established in 1965 by the Government of India on the recommendation of a team of internationally known mass communication specialists from UNESCO. The college is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). It is running under the IIMC Society, an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act 1867. IIMC Institute started with a small staff, including two consultants from UNESCO and now it offers regular Post-graduate Diploma Courses in many specializations. To run the institute funds are given by the Government of India through the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The college has separate accommodation for girls and boys with furnished rooms and uninterrupted power supply. There is a special vehicle available 24X7 at the hostel premises.
