Panjab University Postgraduate Common Entrance Test 2024 Offline

Eligibility criteria for PU CET PG 2022

The condition of eligibility to apply for PU CET PG 2022 depends on the type of the course, the candidate wishes to apply for pursuing postgraduation. A pass in bachelors degree in the relevant discipline is a must to apply for this exam. The qualifying degree must be studied in a recognised educational institution. More information is available in the tables provided below for the sake of the students:

Candidate would be offered admission on the basis of their rank in the merit list  of PU -CET (PG)


It is not mandatory for candidates who have appeared in the GATE 2020 exam to appear in the entrance exam. However, the merit list will be prepared on the basis of the  GATE score of the candidate


  • MBA with a CGPA of 6.00 or minimum  60% marks in the aggregate (where %     marks are awarded) in the qualifying examination i.e.     B.E./B.Tech. (Chemical) (4-Year)

  • Five Year Integrated B.E. (Chemical)

 

  • MBA or any other equivalent qualifying degree as approved by the Syndicate.

 

 

M.E Food Technology

 

 

  • B.E., B.Tech. degree in Food Technology

  • Dairy Technology

  • Agricultural Engineering

  • Food Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering Chemical Technology (4-Year)

  • On the basis of the merit list of PU CET ME

  • GATE qualified candidates will be exempted from appearing for the entrance test

  • Candidates exempted from the GATE exam , their merit list will be prepared on the basis of their GATE score


 

 

  • Five Year Integrated B.E.(Chemical) with MBA or any other equivalent qualifying degree as approved by the Syndicate with a CGPA of 6.00


  • Minimum 60% marks in the aggregate (where % marks are awarded)

 

 

M.Tech (Polymer)

 

  • B.E./B.Tech. (Chemical) (4-Year)


 

 

  • Five Year B.E.(Chemical) with MBA with a CGPA of 6.00 or minimum 60% marks in the aggregate (where % marks are awarded) in the qualifying examination i.e. B.E./B.Tech. (Chemical) (4-Year)

  • Five Year Integrated B.E.(Chemical) with MBA or any other equivalent qualifying degree as approved by the Syndicate

 

M.E. Electrical Engg. (Instrumentation &         Control) (Regular Programme)

 

 

  • B.E. or B. Tech or equivalent in Instrumentation and Control/ Electronics/Electrical Engineering

  • Performance of the candidate in the entrance exam and interview


 

 

 

Sixty per cent marks in the aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Panjab University as equivalent thereto.

M.E. (Electronics and Communication Engineering)

 

  • B.E. or B. Tech or equivalent in Electronics, Electronics & Communication Engineering,  Electronics and Telecom Engineering


  • It is not mandatory for GATE qualified candidates to appear in the exam


  • Candidates who are exempted from the GATE exam, their merit list will be prepared on the basis of their GATE score

Minimum 60% marks in the aggregate from Panjab University or any other university recognized by Panjab University as equivalent

M. E. (Computer Science & Engineering)

 

  • B.E. or B.Tech or equivalent in Computer Science and Engineering/Information Technology


  • It is not mandatory for GATE qualified candidates to appear in the exam


  • Candidates exempted from the GATE exam, their merit list will be prepared on the basis of their GATE score

 

Minimum 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other university recognized by Panjab University as equivalent

 


 

 

 

M.E. Civil Engineering (Construction Technology     & Management

 

  • A Bachelor‘s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or its equivalent

  • It is not mandatory for GATE qualified candidates to appear in the exam


  • Candidates exempted from the GATE exam , their merit list will be prepared on the basis of their GATE score

 

CGPA of 6.75 of 60% marks in aggregate.

 

M.E. Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing Technology)

 

  • A Bachelor‘ Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering,  Automobile engineering, Manufacturing Technology from a recognized University or its equivalent


  • Candidates exempted from the GATE exam , their merit list will be prepared on the basis of their GATE score

  • It is not mandatory for GATE qualified candidates to appear in the exam

 


 

Minimum CGPA of 6.75 or 60% marks in aggregate

M.E. Electrical Engineering (Power System)

 

  • Candidates who have completed B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering


  • GATE Qualified candidates will have an edge


  • Candidates appearing in the entrance exam will be offered admission only if seats are left vacant

 

Candidates should score at least 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other university which is accorded recognition by Panjab University


 

 

M. Tech. Material Science & Technology

 

  • M.Sc. (Physics), M.Sc. (Chemistry), B.E. / B.Tech. Material Science/ Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical and electronics/Civil/Production/Chemical


  • GATE qualified candidates will be given preference


  • Candidates appearing in the entrance exam will be offered admission only if seats are left vacant after seats are filled by GATE qualified candidates

Candidates should score at least 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other university which is accorded recognition by Panjab University


 

 

M.E. Biotechnology

 

  • B.E. Biotechnology Engineering

M.Tech. (Microelectronics)

Applied Physics / M.Sc. Physics with specialization in Electronics or M.Sc. in Electronics (as approved by AICTE


  • Candidates appearing in the entrance exam will be offered admission only if seats are left vacant after seats are filled by GATE qualified candidates

  • GATE qualified candidates will be given preference

MA English

Eligibilities

50%. The pass percentage with regard to the entrance test in English  has been increased to 35 % (30%  if the             candidate belongs to the reserved category)

MA Mass Communication

Bachelors degree with at least 45% marks in journalism and mass communication

Graduation in the relevant discipline for MSc and MCom and MPH. The bachelors degree must have been completed from a recognised educational institution. Candidates with any degree from a recognised educational institution can apply for MBA.

 

 

 

 

Exam pattern for PU PG CET 2022

The exam will be conducted in offline mode and answers will have to be registered on a separate answer sheet which will be provided at the exam centre to the candidates. The format of the questions will be multiple choice in which each question will have more than one reply options and right one has to be chosen to get  the marks. More details are provided in the table below and students can refer it:
