The qualification required to apply for KEAM depends on the type of the course, the candidate wants to apply through the exam. Applications can be submitted for BE/BTech, BArch, BPharma courses through this test. A pass in plus-two is must to apply for KEAM and candidates preferably must be Indian citizens and natives of Kerala. More details are available below for the sake of the candidates:
Educational qualification/Pass Marks
Applicants should have qualified Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or equivalent exam with minimum 45% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Students who wish to focus on biology oriented courses have to pass plus-two with subjects as biology, physics and chemistry. They can also have subjects like biotechnology, computer science in their plus-two.
Candidate must have Chemistry during 12th standard. If they donot have chemistry, then the marks of Computer Science will be considered.
In case, the candidate has also not studied Computer Science along with Chemistry, then the marks in Biotechnology will be considered by the authorities. Finally, if the candidate has not studied any of the given subjects, the scores of Biology will be considered.
Age Limit/Nativity
As per KEAM eligibility criteria, the candidates should be minimum 17 years old and there is no maximum age limit. The candidates must be an Indian citizen and native of Kerala. They must belong to one of the following categories - Keralite, Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) or Non-Keralite Category II (NK II). To prove the domicile, the candidates will be required to submit certain documents.
The test will be conducted in offline mode which means answers for the questions will have to be registered on a separate answer sheet. Test will have two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 will be having questions related to physics and chemistry.
Paper 2 will have questions on maths/biology. The format of questions is multiple choice where each query will have more than 1 reply option and right one has to be chosen among them to get marks. More information is provided in the table below for the sake of the students:
