Educational qualification
Applicants must have passed MSc or Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS can apply for the exam. They should have atleast 55% marks if they belong to General and OBC categories. The same is 50% marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Even candidates who have below mentioned qualifications can also apply:
@ Students enrolled for M.Sc or completed 10+2+3 years as on the closing date of online submission of the application form, under the Result Awaited (RA) category. Candidates will need to submit the attestation form which is duly certified by the Head of the Department.
@ B.Sc (Hons) or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General/OBC candidates and with atleast 50% marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
@ Candidates having a bachelor’s degree. They will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting enrolled for a Ph.D. within the validity period of two years. Students who have Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Assistant Professorship.
@ PhD degree holders who have passed Master’s degree with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for CSIR NET Exam for Assistant Professorship only.
Subjectwise educational qualification
Age limit
JRF
The upper age limit for the post of JRF should be 28 years. The maximum age is 33 years for from SC/ST/Persons with Disability(PwD)/female applicants. Maximum is 31 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants.
Assistant Professorship
There is no upper age limit and the minimum age should be 28 years.
Nationality
The applicants must be citizens of India and must be residing in any of the state or union territory of India.
The exam will be held for a duration of three hours and questions shall be in multiple choice format. The exam will have three parts - Part A, Part B and Part C. The total marks are 200 and total number of questions is also the same. The details about the exam pattern is provided in the tabular format below for the sake of the candidates:
