Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted on rotational basis by 19 National Law Universities (NLU’s) of India. Through CLAT, candidates will get admission into UG & PG degree law programmes. CLAT 2023 Application Process 

Candidates seeking admissions to NLUs or law schools accepting CLAT scores have to follow the process as under: 

Step 1: Online application - The CLAT consortium opens the application window in online mode on the official website. Candidates seeking admissions through CLAT exam have to apply before the last date of application after completing each step including, registration, filling up the form, uploading documents and fee payment. Step 2: Issuing of admit card - The candidates who have successfully filled and submitted the application form of CLAT will be issued admit card to appear for the examination. The admit card of CLAT 2022 will mention details about the test-taking candidate, exam centre name and location, and test schedule.

Step 3: Appearing for the exam - Candidates have to appear for the entrance exam at the allotted test centres of CLAT 2022. The test timings for CLAT 2022 are 3 pm to 5 pm, however, candidates should report to their test centre by 2 pm. They should their admit card and a valid photo ID proof with them.

Step 4: Declaration of results - The consortium will announce results of CLAT 2022 on the official website along with a provisional merit list for each NLU. 

Step 5: Admission process - The counselling process of CLAT 2022 will begin in online mode with provisional seat allotment on the basis of the first merit list. The candidates have to confirm their seat after document verification and payment of counselling-cum-admission fee. 

CLAT 2023 Application Fee:

Application fee Application Fee can be paid online via net banking/credit card/debit card. 

  • Rs. 4000/- for General/OBC/PWD/SAP
  • Rs. 3500/- for SC/ST

CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2023

Candidates appearing for CLAT exam, need to fulfil the given eligibility criteria:

CLAT Eligibility for five-year Integrated courses:

  • The Candidate must have passed 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a national or state board of education.
  • The Candidate should have obtained atleast 45% marks if belonging to General/ Other Backward Class (OBC) / Specially-abled categories and 40% marks if belonging to Scheduled Class (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories. 
  • There is no age limit to apply CLAT 2021 as the Bar Council of India (BCI) as removed the upper or lower age limit criteria for admissions to law courses.

CLAT Syllabus includes 6 sections – English (including comprehension), General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Mathematics, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.

English Section: This section includes topics as understanding of the passage & its central theme, meaning of words using therein, fill in the blanks. 
General Knowledge & Current affairs:This section will  include topics as static general knowledge, question & current affairs, national & international current affairs and much more.
Mathematics: In this section, the candidate’s elementary mathematics knowledge will be tested.
Legal Aptitude: This section will include topics under study of law, research aptitude, and problem solving ability.
Logical Reasoning: It will include variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogism, logical sequences or analogies etc.

CLAT 2023 Cut Off

  • Enter JEE Main 2023 Roll Number and Password.

Step 2: Upload Documents

Age limit: There is an age limit to appear for JEE Advanced 2023.

  • Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995
  • Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1990.

Qualifying JEE Main 2023: Candidates should be among the top 2,45,000 (including all categories) in Paper-1 of JEE Main 2023. The number of candidates that are selected from each of the categories is as follows:

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be responsible for the counselling session of JEE Advanced qualified candidates. Candidates will be allotted seats into the participating IITs according to their secured ranks, preferences and availability of seats.

The counselling for the JEE Advanced AAT 2023 qualified candidates will be conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The candidates will have to register through JoSAA where allotment will be done according to the candidate’s secured rank, preferences made and availability of seat.
