CUET (UG) 2027

NTA opens the CUET (UG) form with a public notice and an information bulletin on cuet.nta.nic.in, the only place where it can be filled. The status box at the top of this page shows whether it is open. In the 2026 cycle the form opened on 3 January 2026; the timeline section below has every 2026 date.

How to apply

1. Register on cuet.nta.nic.in and note your application number and password.
2. Fill in the form: personal details, category, Class 10 and 12 details, the medium, your subjects (up to five) and up to four exam cities of your choice.
3. Capture a live photograph and upload a recent passport-size photograph (JPG/JPEG, 10 kb to 200 kb), your signature (JPG/JPEG, 10 kb to 50 kb) and, if applicable, your disability certificate.
4. Pay the fee online by card, net banking or UPI, and keep the confirmation page.

Before you pick subjects, check what each programme you want asks for: the university decides which CUET subjects count for which programme. Submit only one form: more than one form leads to the cancellation of your result.

Application fee (2026)

So a General candidate taking five subjects paid Rs 1,000 + 2 x Rs 400 = Rs 1,800 in 2026. Choose OBC-NCL only if your caste is in the Central List of OBCs; a state-list OBC who is not in the Central List applies as General.

Correcting the form

NTA opens a correction window for certain fields after the last date. In 2026 it was a one-time window from 9 to 11 February; a change that raised the fee had to be paid for, and excess fees were not refunded. Forms submitted when the portal was re-opened from 23 to 26 February 2026 had no correction facility, so check everything before you submit.

CUET (UG) is a computer-based test held in several shifts. Every paper, in every subject, has the same shape:

If more than one option is found correct, +5 goes to everyone who marked any correct option. If no option is correct, or a question is dropped, every candidate gets +5. Because papers in different shifts differ, NTA converts raw marks into an NTA score (see the normalisation section).

CUET (UG) 2026 offered 37 subjects. You can take up to five of them, counting languages and the General Aptitude Test, whatever subjects you studied in Class 12. Enter the codes below in the form.

Choosing well

• Start from the programmes you want, not from the list. Each university publishes which CUET subjects (and Class 12 subjects and marks) each programme needs; NTA's bulletin points to this mapping.
• If one subject counts for several of your target programmes, it saves a slot for another.
• For the three central Sanskrit universities, students of the traditional Shastric subjects choose Sanskrit (325). Sanskrit is a domain subject and is not translated.

In 2026 candidates' choices produced 12,906 different subject combinations, so there is no single right set: match yours to your target programmes.

A subject held in several shifts has a different paper in each shift, and one may be harder than another. So NTA does not compare raw marks across shifts. It converts them into an NTA score using the equi-percentile method, separately for each subject. The method was set by a committee of professors from the Indian Statistical Institute Delhi, IIT Delhi and the University of Delhi.

1. Percentile within your shift. If N candidates took the subject in your shift and m of them, including you, scored your raw marks or less, your percentile is 100 x m / N. So the top scorer of every shift gets 100 percentile.
2. One scale for all shifts. NTA puts every candidate's percentile on a common marks scale, so that the same percentile gets the same normalised score whichever shift it came from.

What this means for you: your score depends on how you did compared with the others in your own shift, not on whether your paper was easy or hard. The NTA score of CUET (UG) 2026 is valid only for admissions in 2026-27.

What each paper tests, as the 2026 bulletin describes it:

• Languages: reading comprehension on factual, literary and narrative passages, literary aptitude and vocabulary.
• Domain subjects: the NCERT syllabus of the subject.
• General Aptitude Test: general knowledge and current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning (simple arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration and statistics), and logical and analytical reasoning.

After the exam NTA publishes the provisional answer keys with each candidate's question paper and recorded responses on cuet.nta.nic.in. In 2026 they came out on 9 June, with challenges open from 9 to 11 June (till 10:00 pm, fee payment till 11:50 pm).

1. Click "Challenge(s) regarding Answer Key" and log in with your application number and password.
2. Open "View Question Paper" to see your recorded responses. The question IDs in the key are not in order: match them with your paper.
3. Tick the option IDs you believe are correct and, if you have them, upload supporting documents as one PDF.
4. Review your claims, submit, and pay Rs 200 per question challenged (non-refundable) by card, net banking or UPI. Claims are saved only after payment.

A panel of subject experts checks every challenge. If one is correct, the key is revised and applied to all candidates; nobody is told individually. The result is prepared from the final keys, and after the result there is no grievance about the keys, no re-evaluation and no re-checking.

NTA declares the result as NTA scores on cuet.nta.nic.in. Score cards are not sent to candidates: download yours with your application number and password. NTA's work ends there: the merit lists and counselling are each university's.

In 2026, 7,74,607 women and 7,94,257 men registered; more women (5,85,596) than men (5,78,500) appeared.

A CUET score does not give you a seat by itself. After the result you apply to each university you want, on its own admission portal, and it ranks applicants on its own merit list from your CUET score and its other rules (eligibility, documents, medical fitness).

244 universities used CUET (UG) in 2026. The central universities listed in NTA's bulletin include the University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia, the University of Hyderabad, Pondicherry University and Tezpur University, and the central universities of several states. State, deemed and private universities that join are listed on cuet.nta.nic.in.

Example: Delhi University's CSAS

• Admission to every undergraduate programme of DU is through its Common Seat Allocation System, CSAS (UG), on DU's portal, and no offline form is accepted.
• Seats are allotted on the CUET (UG) score alone, provided you meet the programme's eligibility. For performance-based programmes (such as fine arts, music and physical education) and the ECA and Sports quotas, DU combines the CUET score with a practical, audition, trial or certificates. Each B.A. combination of a college counts as a separate programme: DU offers 73 programmes and more than a hundred B.A. combinations in 69 colleges.
• The 2026 CSAS application fee was Rs 250 (UR, OBC-NCL, EWS) or Rs 100 (SC, ST, PwBD), plus Rs 100 for each of the ECA and Sports quotas you apply under, and Rs 400 for each of BFA, B.A. (Hons.) Music and B.Sc. (PE, HE and S).
• After an allocation you accept the seat and then choose to upgrade (stay in the race for a higher preference in later rounds) or freeze (keep the seat).
