Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal was established in 2008 by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. IISERs were created through a declaration of Ministry of HRD, Government of India with the prime motive of promoting education and research in science and related areas. The first two IISERs were established in 2006, in Pune and Kolkata. This was followed by an Institute at Mohali in 2007, Bhopal and Trivandrum in 2008, Tirupati in 2015 and Berhampur in 2016. Each IISER is an degree-granting autonomous Institute. The vision of the Institute is to provide high-quality education to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students. The Institute also aims to contribute to society through teaching and research to help achieve global sustainability. The main aim of the Institute is to produce leaders in science and related disciplines.
