St. Joseph's College Admission Process

The St. Joseph's College admission process is entirely online. Applicants for all bachelor's programmes must update their XII Standard/ II PU marks in their application form. The program with an entrance test for admission is specified, and requests for changes to the date/time/venue/mode of test/interview will not be entertained. No requests for TA/DA or accommodation will be entertained, and failure to attend the entrance test/interview is considered as "not selected."

Details of the St. Joseph’s University Entrance Tests (SJUET) are available on the respective program's webpage. Entrance tests will be conducted on campus for all Indian nationals. Foreign/International applicants will not have entrance tests but will be screened separately as prescribed by the Department/School. Only the programs of the School of Communication and Media Studies will have online entrance tests.

If a candidate has applied for more than one program, both of which have entrance tests, provisions will be made for the candidate to take both tests on the same day. The dates and timings of the St. Joseph’s University Entrance Test (SJUET) are notified. Upon arrival at the test venue, the candidate will be informed as to which test he/she should complete first. After a break of half an hour, the candidate can take the next test.

Before saving the application form at any stage, it is essential to ensure that all details are filled in completely and accurately on every page. After saving the form, any corrections will incur a fine of Rs 50 per correction.

St. Joseph's College Application Process 

To apply for the St. Joseph's College application form, ensure you have a valid email ID, mobile number, passport photo with a white background (not exceeding 1 MB), and for Indian applicants, a mandatory Aadhar number. Follow these steps:

  2. Login: Use the credentials to log in. Navigate to the home page and click on the magnifying glass to access the application stages.
  3. Fill out the application form: Complete all required details. Ensure no mandatory fields are left unfilled to avoid error messages. Review the Letter of Undertaking before proceeding.
  4. Make payment: Proceed to payment, selecting your course and batch timing. Note that application and entrance test fees are non-refundable. Choose your payment gateway, preferably RAZORPAY, for faster processing.
  5. Upload certificates: Use the "certificates" section to upload your PDF/JPG documents.
  6. Print PDF: Generate a PDF of your application by clicking on the dot on the homepage, then "My applications," and finally "print."
  7. Apply for another course: To apply for additional programs, visit the homepage, click on "My Applications," and select "Apply More."
  8. Intimation Log: Regularly check the Intimation Log for emails and SMS sent by the University regarding your application status. Ensure you stay updated on any communication from the University.

St. Joseph's College Campus Facilities

St. Joseph's College campus offers a blend of modern amenities and a focus on academic excellence. 

Classrooms: Equipped with ICT facilities, the classrooms are designed to maximize natural light and air circulation. Comfortable seating arrangements cater to both students and faculty. To accommodate the growing student population, the infrastructure is continuously expanding, with seventeen spacious classrooms added in the last five years. Additional facilities such as a staff infirmary and a boardroom have also been incorporated.

Auditorium: The Auditorium Complex, inaugurated in 2014, boasts excellent acoustics, lighting, a green room, a basement, and service points. Smart seating for 1260 people is available, along with four seminar halls accommodating approximately a hundred individuals each. These halls are ICT-enabled and feature small daises for event hosting, offering various sizes and seating options as per event requirements.

Library: St. Joseph’s College Library is renowned for its extensive collection, regularly subscribing to top national and international journals, periodicals, and newspapers. It serves over 9000 undergraduate, postgraduate, and research-level students and staff. The library is fully automated, with spacious reading halls accommodating up to 250 users. It utilizes the latest technology, including the Koha Integrated Library Management System Software and DSpace software for digital library and institutional repositories, along with barcode and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

Hostel: The hostel for men provides a well-designed living space with all the necessary amenities for boarding and recreation. It features its canteen, maintained cooperatively, ensuring students have access to healthy and hygienic food.

Observatory: The university's observatory offers students a unique educational opportunity to explore astrophysics and telescope functionality. Equipped with a sophisticated 12-inch Ritchey-Chrétien Telescope, students can delve into the celestial sphere, contributing to astronomical education. The observatory is managed by the St. Joseph's Astrophysical Society (SAPS), enhancing the academic experience.

St. Joseph’s College Hostels

St. Joseph’s College Hostel in Bengaluru boasts a magnificently designed hostel for men, complete with all necessary amenities for boarding and other recreational activities. The hostel includes its own Canteen, providing healthy and hygienic food to the students, maintained on a cooperative basis.

Architecture:

The hostel block building, a semi-circular-crescent-shaped stone structure built in 1948, stands as a remarkable specimen of architecture. Initially featuring a hundred and twenty single rooms and four large halls, one of which serves as a prayer hall, two of these halls were later converted into cubicles, expanding the accommodation to a hundred and eighty. Presently, the hostel can accommodate only 118 students.

Infotainment Room & Sports:

Spacious common rooms are provided within the hostel for constructive activities like indoor games, discussions, and recreation. Indoor games such as carrom, chess, and table tennis are available for the inmates, with sports equipment provided by the hostel's sports committee. The hostel also grants access to a Badminton Court, Basketball courts, Volleyball courts, Cricket and Football grounds, and facilities for other indoor games.

Each student is provided with a bed, study table, study chair, and an almirah.

SJC Hostel Council and Committees:

Hostel residents elect secretaries to the Students’ Council through a fair election process. Various committees such as cultural, sports, mess, maintenance, and prayer hall activities are established to provide opportunities for overall personality development during their stay. These committees organize all events in the hostel.

Reading Room, Library, and TV Room:

The hostel provides daily newspapers, and students can utilize the hostel library and TV during leisure hours.

Canteen Committee:

To provide real-time marketing and management experience, a food committee is formed to oversee daily canteen operations. This committee regulates monthly purchases of ration and other food items, forming groups within the committee, each with individual responsibilities, to carry out the tasks meticulously and transparently.

St. Berchman’s Hostel, Ejipura:

The college also offers another hostel for boys at Ejipura, approximately 4 kilometres away from the college campus. This hostel can accommodate 20 boys and provides dormitory facilities.

Male students who have secured admission to the college may apply for either hostel through an application form available on the college website. The completed form, along with the scanned copy of the college fee paid receipt, must be emailed to hosteladmission2023@sju.edu.in for accommodation. Selection is based on merit, geographical location, and economic condition of the candidate. Selected candidates will receive an email from the Hostel Management for further confirmation.
