Suraj Singh Memorial College, Ranchi was established in 1972 by a few philanthropic and dedicated people of Ranchi and the building was donated by the family of Late Suraj Singh. SS Memorial College was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Sri Kedar Pandey. It is a constituent unit of Ranchi University, Ranchi. Initially, the college started with Intermediate Arts and Science teaching. The commerce teaching was added later at intermediate level and in a short period, the college management was permitted to start Degree teaching with Honours level in Science, Arts and Commerce streams.
