R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE), Bangalore was established in 1963. RVCE is one of the earliest self-financing engineering colleges in the country, run by Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST), a not for profit trust. It is an autonomous institute affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, approved by AICTE and accredited by NBA, New Delhi.
The college offers 12 Undergraduate Engineering programmes, 21 Master Degree programmes and Doctoral Studies. Admissions to undergraduate programs will be based on the marks acquired in Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) and admissions to postgraduate courses will be on the basis GATE or PGCET exam.
The vision of the college is to be the leader in Quality Technical Education, Interdisciplinary Research & Innovation, with a Focus on Sustainable and Inclusive Technology. Their quality policy is to Excellence in Technical Education, Research and Consulting through an Outcome Based Curriculum focusing on Continuous Improvement and Innovation by Benchmarking against the global Best Practices. The admission process of RVCE is both offline and online. The students can either visit the college campus and fill the application form there or else they can visit the official website of the college for the same. From the home page, the students have to go to the 'admission' section and there they can click the link of the course in which they are intersted for the admission in.
The stdudents must have also cleared the exams like COMED K/KEA/CET. They can click on the links and go to the application form page. The entire counselling and the admission procedure is mentioned on the website of the college. The students can also see the full course fee as well over there.
The college has been spread over 16.85 acres (16 acers & 34 guntas). The college understands the need of the students of this generation and the importance of technology for which the 90% of the class rooms are provided with multimedia projectors and internet facility. The entire campus is a wi-fi enabled campus keeping the needs of the modern students intact. All academic blocks have secured Wi-Fi connectivity. Ramps and lifts have been provided to help the differently abled and sick. The campus setting is done as per the modern lives of the students of this generation and it is constantly updated with time to match the current scenario.
The general amenities inside the college are food court that provides budgeted, healthy, delicious meals to the students. The washed dishes are sterilized for hygienic serving. On campus they also have an extension food court counter. Apart from the Main Canteen, the Mini Canteen also caters to the needs of students and staff and is ideally located on the other side of the campus. The college also provides transportation facilities to the students. There are sufficient buses which take care of commutation of about one thousand students. There are two exclusive buses for the staff. There is also an on campus banking facility is provided by Kotak Mahindra Bank. The bank caters to the need around 7000 students and staff. The ATM facility is a boon to the hostelites and faculty. The bank takes care of all the college transaction. It also provides EC facility for parents and students to pay fees, hostel charges, mess bill, University fees etc. The campus has a branch post office, with the postal identification as R.V. Vidyaniketan P.O. The post office with an area of around 20 sqm, has the capacity to cater to the large number of inward and outward mails on a daily basis. Post Office also offers the small savings schemes.
There is a health centre, sports and gym facility, reprographic facilities, and the college also makes the students take part in sustainable activities like rain water harvesting, Open Well & Borewell Recharge, Reverse osmosis water treatment plant & Softening plant, Sewage Treatment Plant, Solar Energy Harvesting, waste management, etc. The entire campus is a green one promoting more greenery for the betterment of the planet. CCTV’s have been installed around the campus and inside the buildings to ensure 24x7 safety and security. VCE has 13 Seminar halls and 1 large Auditorium with state-of-the-art Audio-Visual facilitities to conduct, National & International Conferences, Workshops and Symposia. One of the seminar halls has advanced facilities viz. Audio DSP, iPad Docking station and video conferencing.
