National Institute of Technology Warangal, previously known as Regional College of Engineering. It was established by the Government of India in 1959. The college’s foundation stone was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on October 10, 1959. NIT Warangal ranks 25th among top engineering colleges and overall ranking is 26 in India by NIRF in 2019, it was also ranked 13 among top engineering colleges in India by The Week in 2017, the Institute was ranked 12th among the technical institutes in the country by Silicon India. NIT is the first institute in the chain of 30 NITs. The institute comprises of 13 academic departments and a few advanced research centres in several streams of engineering, management and pure sciences. It offers eight undergraduate programs and twenty-nine postgraduate programs
