Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, is a private university established under the Mahatma Gandhi University Act 2010. The university is recognized by Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission, Bar Council of India and it is also a member of Association of Indian Universities.

MGU Meghalaya Admission is based on the marks secured by the candidate in AIEEE, UPSEE, DCE, CAT, MAT, SAT, GMAT, ENAT and EMAT. The aspirants are also selected on the basis of their performance in MGU-CET i.e. an entrance test conducted by the university. Qualifying in the tests is followed by the counselling process.
