Hindustan College of Arts and Science (HCAS) was established in Kelambakkam, Chennai, in 1995. The institution is part of the Hindustan Group of Institutions, is affiliated with the University of Madras, and has been granted minority status by the Government of India's National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions.
There are over 120 faculty members who have passed the NET/SLET or have a PhD. Among India's arts and sciences colleges, it is ranked 88th. In fields such as science, commerce, humanities, management, and information technology, the Institute offers 17 undergraduate, seven postgraduate, three MPhil, and two Ph.D. programmes.
In 2019, India Today ranked it 71st in terms of BCA. It is a multi-cultural institution. It has an International Cell that promotes not only mutual understanding but also cultural appreciation among members.
